Memorial Day and Hollywood Fun

Thank you to all the men and women who fight for our country, protect our freedom and give up their lives sometimes to do this.
I saw this display at a store and it was made out of cases of Pepsi. I thought it was pretty cool!
Friday was a Furlough day and my brother and I planned a fun day to LA/Hollywood to go see a concert ( The Script) and hang out aimlessly in LA. We had a blast!!
We got an early start and headed to Hollywood. We walked around Hollywood Blvd and Highland. Home of Groumann's famous Chinese Theatre. There we shops and people on the streets dressed in costumes for photo opps. We were trying to decide what to do.. We were contemplating a visit to Madame Tussard's wax museum but decided a picture with wax Shrek was enough.

We headed down Hollywood Blvd. and enjoyed seeing the stars on the walk of fame. Matt Damon is one of my favorite actors but I snapped many pictures of favorite celebrities.
Some of my other faves I saw were.. Harrison Ford, Olivia Newton-John, Robin Williams, John Travolta, Big Bird, Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Chevy Chase, Kevin Costner, Nicolas Cage, Steven Spielberg, oh and as a joke, Erik Estrada.. I used to love CHiPS back in the day!
There were so many shops and things to look at. LA is sooo different than OC.

We were approached by some people who offered us a "tour" of Hollywood, Beverly hills, etc on an open top bus. Jeff and I looked at each other, giggled and said, "Let's do it!" How fun.. We have NEVER done that and thought it would be a great opportunity for that! We grabbed a quick lunch and got back to load the "limo" for our tour.
We set out for a 2 hour guided tour around Sunset Strip, "Bevawee Hills" ( as our guide pronounced it) and Rodeo Drive.
We got to see so many landmark things. Here's a few pics.

The Famous... Chateau Marmont

This is the club that Johnny Depp owns and where River Phoenix died.

The famous "Bevawee Hills" and Rodeo Drive Signs

This car was parked on rodeo drive.. Don't even know what it is but it has a huge price tag!!

This is Michael Jackson's house.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's house
]
Dr. Phil's house.

One of our favorite highlights of the trip was the $10.00 store.. Everything was $5.99 that day!! What a lucky day for us! HA!~ What a bunch of tourist junk! We thought it was so funny though...
We had a great dinner at the Yard House. The garlic french fries were delicious! We walked around the staples center and LA live and then it was time to go to the Script concert. What an awesome show. Great venue too. Loved the concert!!

I had a great day with my little bro... So glad we had a chance to do that because it doesn't come around often. In fact the last time I remember a fun adventure I think we were in high school. EEEKK. That was only a few short years ago! Ha!!

Uh-MAY-zing

I can't believe how fast the time flies and that it is mid May already! I know I always say that and even though I often stop and appreciate "today" instead of rushing on to "tomorrow", time just really goes so fast. My little first grader who was just a kindergartner, just a preschooler, just a BABY, is finishing up and will be in 2nd grade in the fall. Wow... so fast it goes!
So here I am, almost a month since I have updated and wanting to catch up and document things so I can look back when time flies again and see what I was up to ! ( I have always liked doing that, looking back and seeing what I did last year at the same time, etc.) That's why I ramble a bit in my posts and write down things that may not be so important, but are important to me because I will forget!! So forgive me, but this is where I like to write things down!

I had a nice Mother's Day and thank Sammie for giving me this important job. We went out to lunch the day before with my parents and my Nana. Then down to Balboa for the afternoon to ride on the car ferry. That was fun! We did it twice because Sammie loves it! My aunt was in an art show that night so we went to see her paintings and support her. She was very happy we were there. The next morning, we went out for breakfast and then Brad and Sammie and i went to Disneyland for the day. We had fun. It was crowded but still nice. The weather was cool so that was enjoyable.
Here are all the girls together. :) Sammie made that flower clip for me at school and this really cute card.
She wrote... "Do you know the best mom? Well I do, she is my mom. She has brown hair. It is as brown as 'chocklit". Her eyes are as green as a mrhsmel chick. Her smil is as red as an strobary cack. She is good at skrapbooking. The best prat is evin if she will mack food evin if she is sick. I love you mom". Gotta love it!!!
Here is a picture of me with my chocklit hair, mrshmel eyes and strobary cack smil.
tee hee hee

Of course some pics of Pokey. He is a good boy. Sammie cantered on him this week and was so proud of herself. I was proud of her too.. She is so determined to ride like the big girls!

Today we helped at pony club for a special event called "Big Sunday" for underprivileged kids. (Yes, it is Saturday and the event is called "Big Sunday") Most of them had never touched or ridden a real horse. It was great to see the looks on their faces. I helped them with a craft. They decorated horse shoes and then they glued a picture of themselves with the horse they rode. It was good for Sammie to see that there are so many kids that don't have the same experiences that she has. She went on her first pony ride when she was 8 months old!!! There were kids there today that were 17 and had never been on a horse. What a neat event.

I guess that's all for now.... go take a peek at scrap it forward to see what we have up our sleeves... A new challenge to help animals!!!
