Art and Scraps and Chaps!

Here is a recent drawing by Sammie.
She drew everything except the outline of the horse. She used a stencil to draw just the lines and she added all the rest of the detail. I love how he is kicking up rocks and the basket of flowers on the jump. Sammie is standing up in the saddle as she trots.
Here she is having pony dreams as she sleeps!! There is hardly enough room for her in the bed with all the ponies!

Here are a few of my scrappy pages I made for some "Light it Up Blue" challenges on Tallyscrapper. This one was for a Dr. Suess quote "In my world, everone's a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies."

This layout was for Christine's challenge and had to be all blue and have a puzzle piece on it. I was on a Dr. Suess kick and so I used a title and quote from Dr. Suess again. "Oh the places you'll go". Today is your day, you're off to great places, you're off and away!" I won first place in this challenge and won this cool Teresa Collins prize.

One recent favorite photo of my favorite girl doing her favorite thing!

Random

Well, I titled this blog "Random Stuff" for a reason. Things just seem to happen to me and I often find myself saying, "that's so random!" Yesterday was no exception. ( today too but I'll get to that in a minute) Anyway, I went to a local bookstore which is closing and they had absolutely NO more children's books left. I asked the employees, "Do you have ANY children's books or anything left for kids?" and they said "NO, everything is gone, except a horse sticker book that was sandwiched between the empty shelves." I said "Really?? I'll take it, that's the most perfect thing you could have!!!" So $2.80 later, a certain someone was very happy!! So random!!! Not one thing left in the entire children's section besides a HORSE sticker book??? Wow!!!

Okay, now onto more things random. Before Sammie's birthday we were out shopping together and she found a Bella Sara horse set ( mommy and baby) that she fell in LOVE with. I didn't get it because she was with me and figured I'd go back and get it later on for her birthday gift. Well, BIG, HUGE, mistake!! It was no longer there when I went back and I could not find it ANYWHERE!!! I mean, it disappeared off the Earth never to be seen again. I searched countless stores and it didn't even come up in the computer systems. (Target, and Toys R us. I also looked at Tuesday Morning, Big Lots, Ross, etc.)

I called the manufacturer directly and they couldn't tell me where to find it except that it wasn't discontinued. ( the stores all didn't believe me because it wasn't in the computer.) I kept saying, "I had it in my hand, I know it exists" but it wouldn't even show up in their inventory or anything. I searched for about a month, in all different cities, even called Nevada, and then finally gave up when Sammie's birthday came and went and I couldn't find it.

Tonight I was in Target and I asked the worker if they had any Bella Sara toys. He said no, he had never heard of it or seen it in the toy department. I walked away but then went back again, just to "look" for myself. Well, they had a few different ones and I picked up each one and sitting there on the shelf at the back of the arrangement was "the one". It was the ONLY one and it was a reduced price!!! YAHOO!!! It is going in her Easter bunny basket and she will be one thrilled kid!!!

Exciting things!!

Sammie learned how to ride her bike today. It has been a long process with training wheels on and off several times. She hasn't had much interest in learning. She loves to ride horses but is afraid of riding a bike.. (until now) She finally decided to try it and it took me running
alongside her yesterday ( feeling frustrated) to this.... today!!! In 1 day, she can do it all by herself!!!
We are so proud of her!

A few other exciting things to share. I made this page and it won 2nd place in a layout contest. Ironically, I made this page before Sammie learned to ride her bike ( notice the training wheels)

Sammie lost tooth #8. It had been wiggly for a while and she asked her last year's teacher to pull it and she did!! EEWWW I got a text of a happy little girl and a big hole in her mouth! She was so excited but, yucko!!

Here are the cupcakes we made for pony club! I thought of the idea and was quite proud of my domestic-ness!! Ha!! It is supposed to be green grass, a horse stall ( pretzels) and the plastic horse in the stall. I even found horse cupcake wrappers!! ( the horse is on the bottom of the wrapper, not in the photo but I couldn't believe they existed!!!

That's all for now!!

Leprechaun Trap

Well, I started a different post and haven't finished it yet but in the meantime, this one is more timely! This is the leprechaun trap Sammie designed for her school project. All of the kids in her class made one and they each got to share how it works and set it up by their desks. **NOTE** Scrapbook supplies come in handy for school projects!! We used scrapbook paper, glue dots, glue lines, zip dry, glimmer mist, making memories paint, buttons and bling!! :)
Of course it is a barn!!! The leprechaun walks through the "clover patch" to pet the horses and then he tries to take the gold. There is a sign that says "Do not pet the ponys". Those fellas are tricky and don't obey signs.

He gets close and then he falls through the trap door right in front of the horses.

Here is a pic of the top of the trap and the rainbow roof.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Oh and if you are "feeling lucky" stop by
Scrap it Forward and play along on our "Lucky" challenge. 3 winners will be chosen and the prize is super cute! Hurry up, it is ending soon!!
